Blowing Rock

Blowing Rock crams a ton of charm and excitement into just three square miles. The name comes from a nearby cliff where folklore tells that the wind blows in such a way that objects thrown over the edge float back up to their launching point.  While it does in fact snow up instead of down on some windy days, we haven't tested throwing anything off yet. 

Even with the small town charm and history, Blowing Rock encompasses almost 20 inns and hotels as well as more than 100 shops ranging from local boutiques to an outlet mall. After a busy day, slow it down and take it all in from a bench in Memorial Park in the center of town. Or, venture to the more secluded Broyhill Park to enjoy the shady gazebo and lake.

Adventure and nature are only a short drive (or even walk) away from downtown.  Enjoy extensive hiking or horseback riding at nearby Moses Cone Memorial Park and Bass Lake. 

With so much to offer, Blowing Rock is a perfect place to get out and explore...or to just relax and enjoy the charm.
